Welcome Molin Community,
We are excited to see our students arrive on the first day! We have all been very busy getting the school and classrooms ready for a new year. There will be numerous important notices coming home with students on the first day. Please make sure to read, complete, and return them to the classroom teachers.
On the first two days of school, students will enter through the front doors of the building and walk to the cafeteria where their classroom teachers will be waiting. All of the Molin staff will be outside and in hallways helping students upon arrival. It is very important that families follow the drop-off procedure outlined below for the safety of our Molin students.
New Molin Staff:
We are excited to welcome new staff to the Molin team this year: Kathy Volpone joins the 5th grade team as a general education teacher. Kathy has been a member of the Molin team as an IA for 8 years and is a talented educator. Alissa Gallegos is our new art teacher, replacing Joni Boroda who is staying home to take care of her children. Alissa is an experienced art teacher, having taught art in grades K-12. Lauren Smith is a certified special and general educator joining us as a fellow from Endicott working on receiving her Masters as a reading specialist. Kristin Smolski has moved from 4th grade teacher to the position as interventionist for both literacy and math, a position the Molin has been trying to put in place for 4 years! This is wonderful news for our students. Pam Mosesian and Laura Meekins are new instructional assistants, both with a passion for learning and teaching. We also welcome Melissa Cody and Jodi Paciulan as lunch/recess monitors! All of the new Molin team members are enthusiastic educators and we are happy to have them at Molin!
Molin Morning Drop-Off:
The school day begins at 8:10 and ends at 2:40. Students need to arrive at school by 8:05 to be in their homerooms by 8:10. If you drive your child to school, please do not pull into the driveway. The driveway is used for the buses only. Students must be dropped off at the sidewalks on Low St. Please do not drop students off across the street for safety reasons. Cars are not allowed in the driveway until after 8:15. Please do not drop students off at school before 7:55; there is no supervision before that time. This is solely for the safety of our students. We appreciate your cooperation.
The school day ends at 2:40. Walkers, meaning students that walk or ride their bikes home, are dismissed at 2:35 through the doors to the blacktop. Busers and riders (students being picked up by parents) are dismissed at 2:40 through the front doors of the building. Parent cars may line up along Low St. for pick-up. Cars are not allowed in the driveway during this time. Please do not park across the street from the school as there is no crosswalk and Low St. is very busy.
Classroom teachers will be sending home a brief questionnaire within the first weeks of school regarding your interest in volunteering for this school year. It is helpful for teachers to have direct access to this information for their classrooms at the beginning of the year. Thank you for taking a moment to complete the questionnaire.
Molin Open House
The Molin Open House is scheduled for Thursday, September 29 at 6pm in the Molin auditorium. This is an opportunity for you to meet the Molin team, see the school and your child's classroom and be introduced to the curriculum. Please note that this is a parent only event. We hope to see all of our families at this informational evening.
Molin Schoolwide Expectations
Click here to view the Molin Schoolwide Expectations. We ask that you review these with your child. Teachers will review the expectations in class within the first few days of school, and they will also be reviewed at student assemblies. However, we think it is important to have all Molin constituents on the same page, understanding the expectations and possible consequences. Please review, sign, and return to the homeroom teacher. We will also send home a hard copy on the first day of school. Thank you for your support!
We look forward to seeing our Molin students and working with you throughout the school year!
